SEP "6, 2005 (newstodate): The strike at Boeing may be near an end, according to a local US newspaper.
The paper reports that Boeing has reached a tentative contract agreement with its striking Machinists union workers, after a weekend bargaining session in Washington, D.C.
The parties are due to meet today to finalise the agreement today which would allow work to return to normal very shortly.
The strike has caused problems to many airline customers that have been forced to change schedules as aircraft have not been delivered as planned.
One expample is the delay of the start of Singapore Airline Cargo's 15th Boeing 747-400F that will open the new freighter route between Chicago and Singapore via India and Copenhagen, originally slated for launch on September 22 but now suspended till at least October 9.
