SEP 29, 2005 (newstodate): From May 24, 2006, Continental Airlines plans to start a new route between New York and Copenhagen.
The route will be operated on a daily basis with Boeing 757-200 aircraft.
Today's announcement of the new route follows shortly after Delta Air Line's decision, made public on September 22, to start traffic between Atlanta and Copenhagen from May 1, 2006.
Continental thus adds the Copenhagen flights to its services, since 2004, to Oslo and since June this year to Stockholm, while Delta has picked Copenhagen as its only Scandinavian destination - so far.
SAS already operates from Copenhagen to New York, Seattle, Washington and Chicago, so the North Atlantic traffic will see competition stiffening very dramatically from next year.
