SEP 08, 2005 (newstodate): The consolidation of Russian civil aviation is now taken further ahead as VIM-Avia expands its influence.
Sources say VIM-Avia in cooperation with Basahkiria's Mnistry of Property has decided to set up a new airline based at the region's capital airport at Ufa.
The new airline, named Bashkortostan, will receive eight Boeing 757-200s from VIM-Avia in addition to four other aircraft provided by the ministry, bringing the initial aircraft fleet to 12.
VIM-Avia, that has reportedly also gained control over Kyrgyz Air, is setting up, sources say, an alliance with Russian Sky, Tesis and Chernomor Avia in parallel to the formation of the the AIRUnion comprising the Russian airlines Omskavia, KrasAir, Sibaviatrans, Samara Airlines, Domodedovo Airlines, and Sakhalinskiye AviaTrassy.
