AUG 19, 2005 (newstodate): Russia's first Boeing 747 operator, Transaero has plans for a significant fleet enlargement within a very short time.
-We received our first Boeing 747 by July and the second, also former a Virgin Atlantic aircraft, will follow within two months, and plans are to take in a further two Boeing 747 aircraft by October, bringing the jumbo fleet to a total of four, says Sergei Kukhal, Transaero PR director.
-We are also now negotiating a financial lease contract with FLC for the acquisition of five new RRJ aircraft, he says.
-At the same time we are investigating the market for more Boeing 767 and 737 aircraft, and the eventual decision on number of these aircraft will depend on market availability, and quality/price issues, he says.
Transaero now operates seven Boeing 767 and six Boeing 737 Classic aircraft.
