AUG 03, 2005 (newstodate): Uzbekistan's Navo airport has contracted Thales and Aysel consortium to deliver and implement the Eurocat air traffic management system.
With the system, airport ATC controller can optimise the management of the fast increasing traffic at the airport, and enhance the en-route flight safety of aircraft through the country's airspace on flights between Europe and Asia.
The system will be connected to the Tashkent national airspace management system via satellite.
Aysel, a construction company from Turkey, is responsible for the civil works of the technical and operational building together with the control tower.
Thales air traffic management systems are already operational in other countries in Central Asia and Caucasus, including Afghanistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan.
