AUG 22, 2005 (newstodate): Swedish airport Gothenburg Landvetter reports a continued drop in volumes through 2005.
In July volumes dropped 13 percent, to 3,761 tonnes including import at 2,158 tonnes, down two percent, and exports at 1,603 tonnes, down 23 percent.
For the period January-July, volumes are 32,152 tonnes, down nine percent.
During the period imports increased by five percent to 19,038, but exports were down by 23 percent to 13,114 tonnes.
The steep decline is primarily due to Polar Air Cargo that replaced the airport with Malmoe Airport instead, and a further drop in volumes may be expected as the frequency on the tri-partite freighter to Osaka by Lufthansa Cargo, Japan Airlines Cargo and SAS Cargo is decreased after the decision to set up a freighter service from Oslo to Nagoya in September by Lufthansa Cargo and Japan Airlines Cargo.
