AUG 23, 2005 (newstodate): Aeroflot is among the Russian airlines most seriously hit by yesterday's grounding of the IL-96-300 flet.
Six aircraft of this type is used for more than 40 percent of all Aeroflot longhaul flights, and among the direct consequences is a suspension, till September 5, of all flights to Hanoi, and "some flights" to Beijing, Seoul, Toronto and Washington are also suspended.
On a huge number of other flights, Aeroflot has been forced to reshuffle its aircraft fleet allocation to keep the schedules running, albeit at great irregularity.
In total 13 IL-96-300 are in operation, two are operated by Rossiya, six are operated by Aeroflot, and five by KrasAir and Domodedovo Airlines.
