AUG 02, 2005 (newstodate): St Petersburg's Pulkovo Airport is to become the first airport in Russia to accomodate aircraft including A380 and Boeing 787.
This is contained in a huge investment plan for Pulkovo Airport, Russia's third largest, now passed by the Russian government.
Comprised by the plan is the construction and implementation of a second runway plus taxiways, new airfield lighting systems, radio communication and radar systems.
Work will start quickly in order to bring the airport up to the ICAO CAT III standard by June, 2006, when St Petersburg will host the G8 Summit.
