AUG 24, 2005 (newstodate): Iraq Airways is planning for an early return to the market after years in the dark.
With four aircraft in the fleet, the airline currently serves routes from Baghdad to Amman, Damascus, Dubai and Istanbul, with new routes to Beirut, Cairo, Saudi Arabia and Iran to be introduced within a few weeks only.
Also a route to London is planned for start up later this autumn.
In total, Iraq Airways now operates 20 flights per week.
Foreign airlines currently operating flights into Iraq include Royal Jordanian, while Sharjah-based Phoenix Aviation Group launched a twice-weekly service to Basra from Dubai earlier this week.
