AUG 25, 2005 (newstodate): Upon the initiative by the Georgian president, Turkish company TAV that operates the Istanbul Ataturk Airport has been invited to Tblisi to discuss the current problems with the airport project.
The tender for the Tblisi Airport was won by the turkish Celebi Holding heading a consortium including the American A&J and Belgian GTS, and the project was due to be completed by summer 2006.
But problems have since arisen, forcing the projects to a halt and facing a major delay.
Under the tender conditions, Celebi Holding was to manage the airport for 10.5 years, excluding ATC and air navigation.
