As in 2003, Russia's air cargo turnover reached three billion tonne-km after a 10 percent increase in 2004.
Out of the total air cargo volume, international cargo transportation amounted to almost 59 percent, with cargo volumes between Russia-CIS countries and Russia-worldwide increasing by 25.1 percent and 11.9 percent, respectively.
Russia's domestic air cargo transportation volumes decreased by 3.2 percent, y-o-y.
As for Russia's air cargo turnover in 2004, the share of international deliveries was almost 71 percentt, with a 10 percent increase in Russia-CIS air transportation, and an 18 percent increase in Russia-worldwide deliveries.
Russia's domestic air cargo turnover, however, decreased by 6.1 percent with a 20 percent drop in local Russian air cargo deliveries.
-These variations in Russia's air cargo volumes and air cargo turnover growth rates were caused by the Russian local air cargo market continuously loosing its share, with more long distance cargo flights in demand nowadays, the study concludes.
-Thus, international air cargo transportation amounts to more than half of Russia's total air cargo volumes and turnover, and its share continues to grow. However, the joint stake of the worldwide air cargo market held by Russia and CIS accrued to only one percent in 2004.
