AUG 01, 2005 (newstodate): On September 1, Latvian carrier RAF-AVIA will receive its first converted SAAB 340 freighter aircraft.
The aircraft will be able to operate routes including Paris-Madrid and London-Prague without weight penalties.
-The Saab 340 is the best choice in the 3.5 tonnes segment and a perfect complement to RAF-AVIA's An-26B fleet that has a 5.5 tonne payload capability, says Jurijs Hmelevskis, RAF-AVIA president.
Riga-based RAF-AVIA started cargo operation in 1990, and the fleet currently comprises five Antonov An-26B for Cargo operations, and one An-74 for passenger charters.
