AUG 01, 2005 (newstodate): With effect from August 6, China Airlines plans to start a new thrice-weekly freighter service at Vienna Airport.
China Airlines will operate a Boeing 747-400F in addition to the recently opened thrice-weekly Airbus A340-300 passenger service between Vienna and Taipei.
Vienna is the carrier's eigth European freighter destination in addition to Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Luxembourg, Manchester, Malpensa, Prague, and Rome, and with the new Vienna-route China Airlines will offer more than 1,600 tonnes of weekly cargo capacity out of Europe.
The world's fifth largest cargo carrier, China Airlines is also the biggest Boeing 747-400F operator planning for a total of 21 freighters by the end of 2007.
As in the case with the Czech market, China Airlines has contracted Sky.XS to provice cargo GSA services in Austria.
