AUG 12, 2005 (newstodate): Riga Airport, Latvia, continues its remarkable growth in air cargo volumes during 2005.
During the first six months of 2005, the airport generated a total of 10.016 tonnes of air cargo, against 5,869 tonnes last year, representing a growth by 70.7 percent.
In July this year volumes were 589 tonnes, up 48 percent on last year.
The massive increase is driven by Russian imports of Chinese goods, flown into Riga and transferred by trucks to Russia.
