AUG 25, 2005 (newstodate): Air Atlanta Icelandic, a subsidiary of Avion Group, has decided to restructure its aircraft fleet.
Four Boeing 737-300/400 will be returned to the owners before the end of the year, and three other aircarft owned by the airline sold before the fall of 2006. The aircraft, now flying for Excel Airways in England and owned by the Avion Group, will be replaced with new Boeing 737-800.
Some older Boeing 747-200 passenger aircraft will also be replaced during the next nine months with newer, more cost-efficient models.
The decision on fleet reorganisation comes after seven months of joint operations of Islandsflug and Air Atlanta Icelandic as part of the merger of the two airlines, and the net results will be a slightly reduced aircraft fleet.
