JUL 15, 2005 (newstodate): DHL Aviation has cancelled SAS Cargo's blocked-space agreement since 1998 for the freighter service between Copenhagen and Vilnius.
From August 1, DHL will take all capacity on the five-times weekly 5-6.5 tonnes capacity AN-26 freighter from Copenhagen to Vilnius, while cooperation with SAS Cargo on the return flight from Vilnius to Copenhagen will remain unchanged.
After August 1, SAS Cargo's customers with shipments for Vilnius will depend on trucking services for larger shipments, or available cargo capacity for smaller or priority shipments on SAS, airBaltic aircraft plying the route.
As Lithuania's airfreight market is primarily import-driven, DHL's decision to cancel sharing the Copenhagen-Vilnius freighter is bound to have negative effects on SAS Cargo's Lithuainan services.
