JUL 04, 2005 (newstodate): The governments of Ukraine and Japan have reached agreement on a Japanese loan to finance the upgrading and modernisation of Boryspil International Airport.
The Japanese party will provide a loan of 178 million US dollars to finance the project that includes the building a new passenger terminal.
Boryspil's General Development Plan envisages the airport as a major transit hub capable of handling up to 25 million passengers a year.
The airport generated a traffic flow comprising 1.5 million passengers during the first five months of this year.
The terminal is planned for construction in 2007-2008.
