JUL 04, 2005 (newstodate): The Swedish air cargo terminal Cargo Center sees no need for new cargo terminals at Stockholm Arlanda.
-We are perfectly satisfied with our current location and our terminal building at Stockholm Arlanda and sees no need for a move, says Lars Keding, Cargo Center managing director.
-If volumes should increase significantly through the arrival of new airline operators at Stockholm, the situation might become different. But even so, handling of more airline feeder trucks with cargo shipments for Copenhagen Airport will not require additional capacity, he says.
-It is of course basically a cost issue. Moving into newbuilt premises will inevitably translate into higher costs, no matter how efficient a new infrastructure might be, and we see no need to incur higher costs in a market like this, says Mr Keding.
The current cargo terminal was built in 1987.
The single largest customer is Lufthansa Cargo, and Cargo Center on June 3 the company added Continental Airline Cargo as its latest on-line customer.
