JUN 21, 2005 (newstodate): Avion, Iceland's international transport solutions group, has added the UK-based RGH, The Really Great Holiday Company to its companies.
Among RGH's brands is Travel City Direct, a tour operator with head office in London Gatwick.
RGH will form part of the leisure and charter division of Avion alongside Excel Airways Group, with a combined volume making them together the 8th largest travel group in the UK.
In 2004, EAG carried more than four million passengers. The majority of seats are provided by Air Atlanta aircraft, also part of the Avion Group, with the remainder being with other charter and scheduled airlines.
During 2005, RGH will offer twice weekly year-round services from both Gatwick and Manchester, operating 14 Boeing 747 flights per week during the summer peak.
Boeing 747-300 aircraft leased from Air Atlanta Europe have been introduced to the flying programme from Manchester at the end of last year and from Gatwick in May 2005, replacing the existing Boeing 747-200 aircraft.
