JUN 01, 2005 (newstodate): With the planned acquisition of the Icelandic transport and logistics company Eimskip, the Avion Group will become a major world air and sea transportation provider.
The aqcuisition will create the largest transportation company in Iceland with a turnover of ISK 110 billion, 4400 employees and 80 operating centers around the world.
Avion also plans for an IPO on the Iceland Stock Exchange no later than 31 January, 2006, and will probably become the largest company traded by ICEX.
-Our strategy is to become a global provider of transportation services including sea and air, says Magnus Stephensen, Avion Group VP Business Development & Communications.
-We can probably expect more moves in tune with this strategy, complementing the latest acquisition, he says.
