JUN 10, 2005 (newstodate): The SkyTeam Governing Board has opened its doors for four new associate member airlines including Romanian Tarom to start admission talks.
Alitalia has been named mentor, or sponsor airline for Tarom that must qulity during an audit in 2006 as the first milestone to official Associate membership to be attained later that year.
Together with Tarom, Air Europa of Spain, Copa Airlines of Panama, and Kenya Airways of Kenya are also being admitted to start the admission processes.
With a fleet of 16 aircraft, Tarom serves 1.12 million passengers annually and flies to 39 destinations in 24 countries, including destinations throughout Spain and Western Europe as well as cities in North Africa and the Middle East.
