JUN 06, 2005 (newstodate): With effect from August 15, Bjorn Ragnebrink has been appointed to a new position as director air cargo development at Swedish CAA, Luftfartsverket.
-It is clearly unacceptable that air cargo volumes at LFV's airports have been in a sustained decline despite the over-all growth in the global industry, says Mats Sigurdson, LFV director marketing.
According to its latest statistics, airfreight volumes at LFV's airport, comprising some 90 percent of the Swedish air cargo, was down by 10 percent in 2004.
-To regain confidence in the market for air cargo, Bjorn Ragnebrink will actively seek close dialogue with the players, notably the freight forwarders that play a crucial role in determining the actual movements of the freight, he says.
-We are detemined to win back a fair share of the business, and the naming of a director air cargo development as well as the extensive investments in new air cargo terminals at Stockholm Arlanda and Gothenburg airports should be seen as manifestations of this new aggressive approach, he says.
Bjorn Ragnebrink, currently sales manager at Lufthansa Cargo Sweden, was earlier cargo manager at Stockholm Skavsta Airport that together with Luleaa Kallax Airport and Orebro Airport are competitors to LFV.
