JUN 02, 2005 (newstodate): Since the end of last year, Polar Air Cargo has moved its operations in Sweden from Gothenburg Landvetter to Malmoe Sturup Airport.
-The reason is a change in customer demands in the Swedish market, says Hendrik Falk, Polar Air Cargo VP Sales, Europe, Middle East, Africa & Indian Sub-continent.
-We were approached by a major customer, DFDS Transport that would require our services to be moved to Malmo Sturup to better serve a large shipper in Souther Sweden.
-Since December 23, we have been operating a weekly flight from Malmo Sturup to Charlotte, USA, that was preferred over New York earlier served from Gothenburg.
-If warranted by the market we will of course operate at Gothenburg as well, as we operate at other Nordic destinations on a charter basis, says Mr Falk.
Until the end of 2004, Polar operated two weekly flights from Gothenburg to New York.
