JUN 02, 2005 (newstodate): As expected, the Hungarian parliament has now cleared the road for a privatisation of Budapest Airport that operates the capital airport Budapest Ferihegy.
A tender will now be opened to attract bidders for a long-term operational concession.
Copenhagen Airports and the UK BAA have already announced their interest, and Fraport is also expected to take part in the tender.
The tender will comprise operational and commercial issues only, while the state will retain its ownership to airport infrastructure and property.
According to forecasts from Budapest Airport, passenger volumes will increase by 18 percent, and cargo volumes by 10 percent in 2005.
