JUN 14, 2005 (newstodate): The long-awaited decision on the winner of the tender for Lithuanian Airlines is now imminent.
-The final decision about the winner of the tender will hopefully be made tomorrow morning, with the expiry of the deadline for the submission of improved proposals at 10 a.m, June 15, 2005, says Rimantas Butkus, Head of the Privatisation Transactions Division.
Initial bids were opened on May 16, and since then the bidders have been asked to finalise and improve upon their offerings for the 100 percent stake in the airline's shares.
Known bidders include the Icelandic Fons Eignarhaldsfelag through Iceland Express, and three Lithuanian parties.
One is a Lithuanian consortium comprising tour operator Novaturas, bus operating company Kautra and an investment company Hermis Capital -the owner of Kautra.
Another bid has been filed by a Lithuanian consortium comprising telecom and IT provider Firma, Lithuanian airline Aurela, and tour operator Tez Tour.
The third Lithuanian bid has been filed by Arijus - a Lithuanian forwarding and logistics company that also acquired Air Lithuania after a tender in February, 2004.
