JUN 21, 2005 (newstodate): Ukraine's aircraft manufacturing industry may be boosted by an offer from the Mexico to cooperate on building the AN-140 aircraft that entered serial production in 2001.
The initiative to form a joint venture was taken by the Mexican president during a recent state visit to Ukraine, June 19-20.
The AN-140 development and production program is a joint venture between Ukraine, Russia and Iran.
The twin-engined turboprop aircraft is designed for passenger and combined cargo and passenger service on flights up to 3,700 km.
A total of ten An-140 are currently operated by Ukrainian, Azerbaijan and Iranian airlines.
