JUN 01, 2005 (newstodate): Lithuanian carrier Amber Air has now announced the date for its start of operations to be June 13.
-From this date we will operate twice daily from Palanga to Copenhagen, followed by the opening of our second route served six times weekly from Palanga to Hamburg from June 22, says Algirdas Barteska, Amber Air Deputy Director General.
Amber Air is currently in the final stages of taking over its second SAAB 230 aircraft under a lease contract with SAAB Aircraft Leasing.
The family-owned company employs a staff of 30 people, and plans for further expansion with routes to Vilnius and Oslo in the pipeline.
The airline received its first SAAB aircraft in December, 2004, and was granted its AOC on January 2, 2005, followed by the Air Operating License on January 9, 2005.
