JUN 29, 2005 (newstoedate): In January-May, Adria Airways was its cargo and mail volumes down 19 percent.
Cargo net revenues were down by 15 percent during the same period.
-A significant cause of the poorer results is the strong competition in the open EU market against truckers with door-to-door services on one hand, and the limited cargo capacity available on our routes operated with CRJ-200 aircraft on the other, says Tone Zupancic, Adria Airways cargo sales.
According to Ms Zupancic, the carrier expects to increase its combined volumes on aircraft and road feeder services during the second part of the year.
In 2004, the carrier lifted a total of 3,640 tonnes of cargo and mail on its fleet comprising three Airbus A320 and seven CRJ 200 aircraft.
