MAY 23, 2005 (newstodate): The merger between US carriers America West and US Airways may boost Airbus' penetration of the US aviation market.
The new merged company will reportedly select an all-Airbus intercont fleet of A330 and A350 aircraft.
The new carrier will take delivery of 13 Airbus A320 family aircraft originally ordered by America West Airlines, while delivery of 30 narrow body A320-family aircraft will be re-scheduled from 2006-2008 to 2009-2010, sources say.
