MAY 17, 2005 (newstodate): Runway repair works at Kaliningrad, the Russian Baltic enclave, is now forcing Aeroflot to cut down on its operations during the period May 14 - June 29.
Earlier, Kaliningradavia was grounded by the Russian CAA as its licences came under review due to technical shortcomings.
This forced Aeroflot to double its operations, crucial to the region's population that relies on air transport to reach destinations in other parts of Russia.
The current Aeroflot traffic will be reduced from 35 to 16 flights per week, the airline says.
