MAY 23, 2005 (newstodate): The winners of the tender for construction and management of the new Tbilisi International Airport have now been announced, and work will start by the end of May.
A consortium comprising the Turkish company Celebi, the Luxembourg-based construction firm GTS, and A&J emerged as the winner, and the construction work is planned to take 12 months.
After that, the consortium will run the airport for a period of 10 years, channeling 10 percent of revenues from operations back to the Georgian government.
The consortium was reportedly selected due to the offering of the highest investments in the project, and the shortest construction period.
