MAY 25, 2005 (newstodate): Since May 19, the Swedish carrier SWE FLY is online with its new route from London Luton via Stockholm Skavsta to Lahore, Pakistan.
Initially, the route is operated twice wekly with the carrier's single Boeing 767-200 aircraft, but from June 19 the frequency will increase to six flights per week.
-After this date the Boeing 767 will operate only the Stockholm-Lahore leg, while passengers will be fed to and from London by an RJ aircraft chartered from Transwede, and Copenhagen and Oslo served by SWE FLY's Fokker 50 services, says Christer Andersson, SWE FLY Airport Manager.
-While the stress on the Boeing 767 will ease after June 19 when it serves only the long range legs, we still need spare capacity to back up our services. In the short term this will be secured by a contract with another airline to provide redundancy, but in the slightly longer term we will be able to provide back-up ourselves as we add two more Boeing 767 aircraft before the end of this year which will also see the addition of daily flights from Stockholm to Bangkok from December 8, 2005, he says.
SWE FLY has named Maersk Air Cargo as its cargo GSA in all markets where the carrier will operate, including Sweden, Denmark, Norway, UK, and Pakistan.
