MAT 12, 2005 (newstodate): During its new fiscal year, starting April 1, 2005, Singapore Airlines Cargo will receive two more Boeing 747-400 freighters, bringing the total fleet to 16 aircraft.
With one aircraft being delivered in September and another in December, SIA Cargo plans to increase frequencies on its European services from Singapore to Brussels,
Copenhagen and Amsterdam, and to the US market including flights to Chicago via New Delhi and to New York via Chennai.
With the introduction of an additional destination Johannesburg, SIA Cargo's freighter network will expand to cover 36 cities in 21 countries by March 31, 2006.
In the last fiscal year, SIA Cargo contributed 19 percent of the SIA Group's total operating profit against 30 percent in the preceding year when Group profits were lower as passenger traffic was hit by the outbreak of SARS in the region.
