MAY 19, 2005 (newstodate): Contrary to earlier reports, Airbus denies plans for a freighter version of its new A350 aircraft.
-We have never seen any interest for new freighters in this segment warranting a launch decision, says Oliver Andries, Airbus head of A330, A340, and A350 programs.
The A350 will be offered in two versions, Airbus A350-800 and -900, designed to lift 254 passengers over 8,800 nautical miles, and 300 passengers over 7,500 nautical miles, respectively.
According to Mr Andries, the cargo capacity of the A350-800 will be six full-size pallets, while the A350-900 will accomodate eight full-size pallets.
Mr Andries also says that there will be no difference between the two Airbus A350 versions and the competing two Boeing 787 versions as to cargo capacity.
