MAY 02, 2005 (newstodate): Finnair has landed a major contract with Martinair for aircraft heavy maintenance.
The contract covers heavy maintenance on five MD-11 cargo aircraft, with options for work on a sixth aircraft, too.
The first maintenance event, lasting almost a month, has been scheduled to start May 14. The three next maintenance checks have been planned for January, February and March 2006.
The fifth aircraft is expected to come in for servicing in January 2007, and the sixth aircraft possibly at the end of that year.
Of Finnair Technical Services's approximately 200 million euro turnover, one third comes from maintenance contracts with third-party customers the largest of which are Aeroflot and Lufthansa Cargo.
Last summer a contract was signed for the maintenance support of four Aeroflot DC-10-30 freighters.
Finnair Technical Services has been providing maintenance support to Lufthansa Cargo's MD-11 freighters for seven years already.
This spring Armavia Aircompany serviced one of its A320 aircraft at Finnair Technical Services in March, and Xianjing Airlines' ATR 72 aircraft was undergoing heavy maintenance until mid-April this year.
