MAY 02, 2005 (newstodate): Russian KrasAir has signed a contract for delivery of 10 AN-148 aircraft.
The aircraft will be delivered on a lease contract with IFLC, and the first aircraft will enter service from next year's Q1.
The contract also comprises options for a further five aircraft.
KrasAir is currently amidst a fleet modernisation program running from 2003 till 2005 that aims at providing the airline with 20 new aircraft to replace ageing Russian-built aircraft that will not comply with current EU noise restrictions.
The airline has already taken in two 15 years old Boeing 767-200ER and two IL-96-300 on a 15-years lease agreement with IFLC.
Two new YAK-42D have been leased, as have six TU-204 aircraft, and the airline is also reportedly negotiating the acquisition of six MD-83 aircraft that have so far not been certified to operate in Russia.
