MAY 09, 2005 (newstodate): HOCHTIEF AirPort has now taken over operations at Tirana International Airport Nene Tereza through its Albanian consortium, Tirana Airport Partners.
The cut-over date was April 23, and on May 6 the consortium laid the foundation stone for the airport's new passenger terminal that will become operational within two years.
HOCHTIEF AirPort will operate the Albanian capital's airport for the next 20 years.
During this period, the consortium will receive all revenues from aviation operations. In exchange it will pay a concession fee and has undertaken to modernize and expand the airport and optimize its operations and business systems.
The 83 million euro project also comprises the construction of a new cargo terminal, a new bridge and a new access road.
