MAY 20, 2005 (newstodate): New customers signing up for the Airbus A380 will have to wait for deliveries till after 2010.
-All available slots are now taken for deliveries till 2010, so new customers placing orders for this aircraft will have to wait for at least five years before delivery, says John Leahy, Airbus chief commercial officer.
The planned capacity of the A380 final asembly line at Toulouse will be four aircraft per month, and the assembly of one A380 will take around three to four months.
As production gains momentum the capacity may, however, be doubled by utilizing the full capacity of the special production hangar, 50 percent of which is initially used for general aircraft maintenance purposes by Airbus Industries.
