May 05, 2005 (newstodate): Skybridge Network has been designated EGSAC's exclusive associate member for Romania.
Launched in 2003, the company was set up to take over representation of British Airways World Cargo, following an earlier contract with Frans Maas.
Like Airswift, EGSAC's recently appointed member in Bulgaria, Skybridge is a member of the Sofia-based Unimasters Logistics Group.
Skybridge is managed by Sergiu Sarasan, who worked in ground handling before joining Frans Maas to represent BAWC in 2001. He transferred to Skybridge as Director on the company's formation.
Romania expects to become member of the EU by 2007, and a growth in airfreight is expected.
According to a recent analysis by Lufthansa Cargo, the growth is, however, relatively modest at 3.9 percent per year, from a baseline at 8,766 tonnes of export air cargo in 2004.
