MAY 25, 2005 (newstodate): By mid-May, the 100th FedEx Airbus was received by the EADS EFW conversion facility at Dresden.
The 19 year old aircraft is the Airbus A310-300 prototype and was formerly owned by Air Niugine before it was purchased by leasing company GATX CAPITAL CORPORATION and, by the end of 2004, sold to FedEx.
The conversion from passenger to cargo aircraft will require about four months.
FedEx operates 36 Airbus A300-600F production freighter aircraft and 64 converted freighters - 49 A310-200, 8 A300-600 and 7 A310-300 aircraft.
