MAY 20, 2005 (newstodate): On May 13, China Airlines received its 17th B747-400 freighter, and subsequently phased out its only MD11 freighter on the following day.
China Airlines now operates a one aircraft type-fleet as the largest operator of B747-400F freighters.
The single MD11F was leased from World Airways on a one year-contract, signed in 2004.
The latest B747-400F freighter is the second freighter aircraft slated for delivery in 2005, and by the end of the year CAL will operate 18 B747-400F aircraft.
After delivery of the latest new freighter, China Airlines operates 35 weekly flights to North America, 13 weekly flights to Europe and 28 weekly flights in Asia.
