MAY 26, 2005 (newstodate): British Airways World Cargo is preparing to dig deeper into the market for perishables airfreight.
-We are looking at additional "cool chain"- type products with greater temperature control and active cooling and faster speed of process, says Keith Packer, BAWC Sen VP sales & marketing.
Perishables air cargo currently constitutes 25 percent of the company's total volumes.
In March, BAWC launched its new global perishables product, "Constant Fresh" as a re-packaging of "general" perishables products.
In 2004 BAWC handled over 115,000 tonnes of perishable airfreight.
