APR 07, 2005 (newstodate): To cope with increasing passenger volumes, Polish Wroclaw Airport needs an upgrading of its terminal facilities.
As a first step the existing terminal will be slightly increased, but a master plan for future development comprises the building of a new terminal as well as construction of a new additional runway.
The proposed new terminal comprised by the master plan would increase capacity from the ecurrent 600,000 to 1.2 million passengers, with options for future expansions of capacity to around seven million passengers.
In 2004, the airport generated a total of 363,244 passengers, up 27.8 percent on the preceding year.
In the same year air cargo was down by 20 percent to 946 tonnes, but volumes seem to be increasing again, with a total of 432 tonnes in January-February this year.
