APR 28, 2005 (newstodate): Iran's civil aviaiton authorities say that the capital's new international airport, Imam Khomeini International Airport will start operations from Saturday, April 30.
The airport was closed down after only one international landing on May 8, 2004 when Iran's armed forces moved in to block runways and facilities, quoting insufficient security.
Taking a phased approach, the first traffic to move from the existing Tehran Mehrabad Airport will be flights between Iran and the United Arab Emirates.
