APR 14, 2005 (newstodate): Latvia's Riga Airport is preparing to meet the Schengen requirements.
-We are "almost" ready for Schengen, says Liene Freivalde, Riga International Airport Marketing director.
-We are currently amidst a major terminal building project. After tearing down an existing one-storey terminal, a new three-story 10,000 sq.m. terminal is being constructed, and the project is planned to be completed by the end of this year.
-The new terminal is prepared for meeting Schengen requirements, so we will be in place when Latvia joins the Schengen countries by 2008, says Ms Freivalde.
