APR 29, 2005 (newstodate): The Q1 figures for air cargo and mail through Prague Ruzyne Airport show a modest increase by 3.6 percent.
-The daily volume of aircraft movements at Prague-Ruzyne Airport is around 400 a day, but cargo transport represents only two percent of the overall operation of the airport. Prague Airport is below average by comparison with Vienna and Budapest, says Petr Hlousek, Czech Airports Authority dep managing director with responsibility for the Airport Operations Department.
Most cargo is transported into and out of Prague as additional freight on regular passenger flights. There are on average only four dedicated cargo flights a day, the vast majority of them by smaller turboprop aircraft.
The exceptions are DHL with seven weekly flights using a B757 aircraft, and China Airlines wioth two weekly flights using B747-400F aircraft.
