APR 25, 2005 (newstodate): Moscow Vnukovo Airport is to land its first West European airline customer on June 20 when Germanwings introduces its new route Berlin-Schoenefeld.
Germanwings will operate thrice weekly with Airbus A319/A320 aircraft.
The new route is a first results from Lufthansa Consulting and Vnukovo International Airport's medium-term traffic development project for Moscows third-largest airport, initiated in July, 2004.
Last spring, Moscow Vnukovo Airport opened a new terminal with an annual capacity of five million passengers, and an additional terminal for 20 million passengers is currently being planned and is expected to open in 2008.
Behind these projects, that do not include air cargo, are German companies Obermeyer Planen+Beraten and Lufthansa Consulting.
