APR 12, 2005 (newstodate): Since April 1, Estonian freight forwarder and logistics provider, Balti Logistika has set up a new subsidiary in Vilnius, Lithuania, managed by Arijandas Sliupas.
-Based on our successful business model applied in Estonia we believe there is a similar market for us to cover in Lithuania, and from the second quarter we will open a subsidiary in Riga, Latvia, too, says Vallu Arumae, Balti Logistika CEO, at Tallinn.
-Our business model implies a one-stop entrance to multi-modal solutions, with a one-to-one personal interface towards the customer. The customer does not necessarily know exactly what is the optimal solution to his needs, but based on our competence we can provide the best multi-modal match to his requirements, says Mr Arumae.
-We do not sell transportation; rather we sell time, and this may be the reason for our growth last year at some 16 percent, twice the growth of the market in Estonia.
In Estonia Balti Logistika is partnering with Exel, but in expansion into Lithuania and Latvia is Balti Logistika's own venture as Exel already have own partners in these markets.
From the start, Balti's subsidiaries in Lithuania and, later, Latvia will be manned by two people, poised for expansion as businesses gain momentum, and Mr Arumae does not preclude further expansion into new markets after the consolidation of the Baltic companies.
