APR 12, 2005 (newstodate): FAGSA - The Federation of Airline General Sales Agents - will discuss the issue of airline remuneration at next week's Board meeting, according to an industry source.
-We expect FAGSA to recommend the cargo GSAs to negotiate individually with their airline principals rather than seek a collective industry solution, says the source.
-It seems that neither FAGSA, nor the airlines' organisation, IATA, wants to get directly involved as parties to the issue.
As reported by newstodate last week, cargo GSAs complain of the burdens to undertake the calculations, collection and liabilities involved in managing the airlines' surcharges to compensate for rising fuel and security costs without any remuneration from their carriers above their fixed commission on pure cargo rates.
No airline approached by newstodate has so far been interested in commenting on the issue.
