MAR 07, 2005 (newstodate): As the date of implementation of Sweden's new ATM system, Eurocat 2000E, draws near, the Swedish CAA wanrs that traffic will be restricted during the Easter period.
The implementation will take place during the night between March 18 and 19.
The new system will boost capacity in the Sweden's airspace and enhance air traffic management, but during the transition period, estimated to last for two or three weeks, peak traffic at especially Stockholm Arlanda will suffer.
In the longer term, the new ATM system will enable the volume of starts and landings at Stockholm Arlanca to increase from 80 to 90 operations, facilitating future expected traffic growth.
